The first book in this creative series. The plot different from most Cozies but has many of the elements of a cozy. The characters are developed and Charli Rae Warren will attract your attention The descriptions of the area will place you in Hazel Rock, Texas. There are two romantic themes. A lot of information on book art is provided. Reading about it gave me a wish to learn about the art form. A pink armadillo named Princess adds interest and humor to the story.
Charli has agreed to return home to sign papers that will her allow her Father to sell the family business. She left the area as a teenager amid a lot of rumors and gossip. Upon arrival, she finds the realtor dead in the barn. A lot has changed since she left including a new sheriff. Her Father is missing and is suspected as the killer. She is pleasantly surprised at the support the small town gives her Father and the victim. Charli must find her Father before she can leave town. The twists that happen will leave wanting to learn more about Hazel Rock and Charli’s life. I highly recommend this book.
