My allergies are acting up making it difficult to do much of anything. So I had book-a-thone this last weekend. I read the 2nd book in the Ellie Quicke series and the characters caught my attention. Ellie’s husband died about a year ago. She is used doing chores for everyone. She is unable to tell anyone no. Ellie is slowly moving from grief to rebuild her life. Her daughter Diane leaves her grandson off at her home without asking. Her church is always asking for help.I
In this book members of the church are getting poison letters accusing them of wrongdoings. Ellie and a Mrs. Dawes watch in horror as Nora, the organist leaps to her death. The police are aware of the letters but are unable to spend the time to locate the writer. Ellie sets out to identify the letter writer, does she succeed? I highly recommend this book and series.

I’m sorry about the allergies, but at least you had a great way to pass the time. This sounds like a really good Ellie Quicke mystery. I’ve only read two, but I really liked both of them. Your review of this one is just more encouragement for me to gradually go back and pick up the ones I haven’t read yet.

    • I need to write reviews on other books. Veronica Haley has two series. This one is different from the other series. There is some crossover she used in both stories. She heavy on miscarriages in this one. No police influence so far. Both Christian background. The one I am reading starts a romance for Ellie. I not crazy about the format of writing the villian’s point of view. This series does that.

Is Ellie Quicke in both series?

      • No the first one you read was the Abbott series. The main character is Bea Abbott. The one you just review the MC is Ellie Quicke. I am writing a blog about th different between the series. Both are similar and have a strong Christian background.

      • A couple of nice She is this morning. I got auto-approve from Poison Pen and there were 2 Phyrine books on it. I downloaded both and also got invitation to read another one book I think I might like.

I’ll look forward to reading the post contrasting and comparing the two series. Nice on the auto-approve. I had better visit the site and make sure I have all possible Phryrine books requested.
