I have enjoy this series from the beginning. I am looking forward to reading this book.

Small-town life in Hazel Rock becomes a Texas-size crime scene when murder takes a page from Charli Rae Warren’s book club’s latest mystery . . .
Charli takes great pride in running one of the few independent, family-owned bookstores in
small-town Texas. She vets everything carefully, with an eye to the eclectic tastes of the locals. That includes the Book Barn’s weekly book club selection. This time out it’s a mystery whose characters bear a striking resemblance to local citizens, including Charli’s friend Sugar . . . who’s the prime suspect when her real-life nemesis is found dead in a hotel’s water tank.

With help from her pet armadillo Princess, Charli campaigns to clear Sugar’s sweet name—literally—when the up-for-election mayor becomes a killer’s next target. Murder and politics make scandalous bedfellows as Charli discovers that fiction may be fatal, but reality could be just as deadly . . . I

My Review

Cowboys, Cowboys, and more cowboys have invaded Basel Rock, Texas. They are there for a major Rodeo event. The cowboys featured are the Bull riders. The top bull riders are present and burying for three titles. Dalton Gibbs the leader insult Charli 's friend Scarlet. Then he disappeared as his brother Wyatt did seven years ago. He was last seen near Scarlet's trailer.
Charlie Rae Warren has troubles as someone tried to brand her with Dalton's number. Her armadillo adds much to the story. We learned about the animal life.
Charlie still has not heard from Chad, an old boyfriend, and the Sheriff will not be social until he is sure that Chad is not in the picture. The story takes several turns before answers are found. Charlie is right in the thick of the matters much to the dismay of the Sheriff. The ending is a surprise. I have not read the first book but plan on it. I highly recommend this book.

We find ourselves back in Texas at the book barn. The tale opens with gunshots that shatter the book barn. Charlie Rae Warren has visited from Aunt Violet and her cousin Jamal. He talks Charlie into using his new app to increase traffic at the bookstore. He has arranged an author's signing. Someone has similar all that at the end there is a murder instead of a book. Will find answers before Jamal is arrested for the murders? I am not happy with the low triangle that is forming. I highly recommend this book and series.

The Book Barn series installment deals with several topics these include literary drives for the foster system, domestic violence, dysfunction families and their secrets and assisted living homes.
Charli Rae Warren is working on a book drive to collect books for the state foster system when the coordinator of the drive is stabbed to death. Evidence shows that victim was being abused by her live-in boyfriend. As Charli seems to connect with the state welfare system she finds another woman and her children being controlled by her husband. Her Dad is acting strange and refused to tell Charli what he is worried about. She decided to make more visits to an elderly friend who is in an Assisted living home. Charli explores the evidence and her world suddenly shifts. The ending will shock and please you. It did me. Looking forward to Charli next adventure, it is sure to be good. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this book and series.
