This the best book I have read in the last few months. It is the second book in the Louise Faulk historical series and the first time I read this author. I will definitely read her again and will probably read the first book before too long. The writing flows smoothly and the descriptions placed right in New York City in early 1900. The characters are well developed and became friends at once. Louise Faulk has come to New York City after her Aunt asked to leave Altoona. Louise dreams of becoming a member of the New York police department. She took the civil test and passed. I especially like the description of the Louise airplane ride. After taking the test Louise heads for her job only to find the building on fire and she no longer is employed. Did Louise pass the test? Will Louise be hired by the police department? Who started the fire? Who is the charred body in the fire rubbish? I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK. Disclosure: Thanks to Kensington Books for a copy through NetGalley. The opinions expressed are my own.
