A new author for me and it is a WINNER. The story caught my attention at once. The author first teases with a back story and gradually filled in the answers holding your attention throughout the book. The characters were developed and you felt like you were in the Appalachian mountains. The problems of a small town editor explained in detail.
Ava Logan, a single mother has been babysitting for a friend. When she goes to return the child, the child’s mother is dead and it appears she was murdered. The current sheriff is running for reelection and local politics becomes a problem. His opponent is demanding Ava looked into the ginseng poaching planning to discredit the sheriff. I found it hard to put down. I highly recommend this book.

Disclosure: I received a free copy from Henery Press through NetGalley for an honest review. I would like to thank them for this opportunity to read and review the book. The Opinions expressed are my own.

Definitely a notch above the typical cozy mystery.
