“Something’s missing.” I was sitting on a barstool next to the center island in my kitchen, having a conversation with five other people, two of whom were alive. More on that shortly. “It’s just not going over.”

Funny opening. But i love the title of this book. I hope you’re enjoying it.
It is a paranormal and the MC is talking to a group of ghosts. It took me a while to understand the play on words with the title. The MC find a guesthouse (not a B&B). The house has a resident ghost. I like E. J. Cooperman’s work. This one may still be on NetGalley as it is not released. I don’t put my reviews on a book until it is released. I do write them on NetGalley when I finish the book. I usually wait until the next day. I gave it 5 stars.
Great. Will look into it.
Great first line. I will have to check this out!!!
Today on my blog, I am sharing the first line from My Heart Belongs in Niagara Falls, New York: Adele’s Journey. I am currently on chapter 14, so I will share the first three lines from that chapter here.
“‘Are you busy?’ Adele looked up from the book lying in her lap. Uncle Osbourne stood at the threshold of the library.”
Oh my goodness! Brilliant first line–happy Saturday!
Thanks ! The book is a paranormal and she is speaking to a group of ghosts.
As you know, I am not into paranormals, but I thought that was a great opening line. Funny and intriguing, but stated as if it were normal. Thus the humor!
It took awhile for me to see the play on the title. The MC find a guesthouse not a B&B. The guests come to see the ghosts. I have read only a couple books. The rest are on my TBR LIST.
Paranormal isn’t my thing, but that’s definitely a catchy opening!
Love the title! That and the first line promise a fun read.
I’m currently reading Engaging The Competition by Melissa Jagears. Here’s the first line:
Harrison Gray had never heard of anyone holding a competition over mounting or dismounting a horse, but then, Charlotte Andrews could turn anything into a contest.
Interesting first line takes right into the story.
