GOOD AFTERNOON AND MERRY CHRISTMAS – 2017

THINK POSITIVE! HUGS!

It is overcast and we are getting a mixture of rain and snow showers. So far the snow is not sticking to the ground. A few days ago the inversion lifted when we got about an inch of snow. That snow is gone. What will you have to drink today? I am having my usual tea.

Above are some hall decorations from previous years. I keep forgetting to take the Kindle with me on my walks. I have been to the exercise room twice now. I walk down the stairs so I know I can get out of building in case of a fire.

It took two days for me to finds a way to get to a store. I was able to pick up a few items we need. I find hard to believe how much the size and cost of food have changed since I fell.

Robert got his first shipment of prepare food this week. The meals are packed very God and would keep for the two weeks. My foods will come later. I made chicken and dumplings yesterday and pancakes, eggs, and sausages for this morning. I am working on clearing out the freezer part of the refrigerator.

The Christmas decorations look beautiful. Are you able to decorate where you are now?

  2. Have you checked on line for grocery stores who deliver? I’ve done this a few times since we only have one car and it goes to work with my husband.

    • Yes, I have checked that out. One store delivers to you home. Wal-Mart and Fred Myers have on line shopping. Albertson delivers to your home. We may come to this in the future. I want to be able to go to the store myself. I like to do my own selecting. I don’t like returning items.

    • Oh I’ve had very good luck with doing it. They even pick the produce for me sometime and I’ve never had to return anything. Do they have a senior bus or something where you live that can take you to the store? My in laws were in a senior living place(sorry I can’t remember the proper term for it) and they hated it. Moved back home after two months and now they have granny nanny that comes to their home to help them out.

      • They do have a bus that will take you there. There are several kinds of senior living. You get out of it what you want. An assisted living home where you depend on the help. That can be nightmare. There is hospice care. We live in a low income senior retirement home. You need to be able to care for your self or have a caregiver. Caregiver were rare when we moved in 10 years ago. Now there are several here. We both have one. They help with housework, can cook your meals, go shopping for you. It depends on the agency and area. It is out there you just have locate what is best for you. My broken hip and leg w one me up. I am having trouble adjusting to the reality of my life now. You can’t depend on others to get what you want.

      • Yeah they were in assisted living as my father in law and has congestive heart and liver failure and my mother in law can’t walk without a walker. To be honest, they are kind of snobbish and ever left their rooms. They would even take their meals in their room. I used to get so mad because the place had all kinds of activities for them and they never go. Sundae socials, movie nights, etc. They refused to go!

So you could take the bus to the store and then get one of those motorized carts, that would be awesome for you right? Then you can get exactly what you want. I always help people who are in them and can’t reach for something. I don’t like to see people struggle. There is no need for it if I’m right there. I’m glad you have a caregiver that helps you!

      • ,Assisted Living can be a nightmare. Everything is done by the workers and you wait your turn. Some places are better than others. Yes, they have activities for the residents. The petty quarrels that can occur are something. There are people who like to stir up the affair. We have one here. Every 6 months he had the community in an uproar. I don’t fault them for not going to the affars. The Christmas potluck tomorrow. Usually a couple of hours on bad chairs for a ham dinner and much of the food is not on my diet. I will skipped the dinner. Caregivers come in all kinds. What does butter mean to you? It can have several meanings. Do Not Wash! Would you wash the item?A 2#s
of deli meat for one person? Left handed kitchen vs right handed kitchen. Sweet potatoes in the refrigerator. A small bottle of foaming soap? Did you know that there are only salad forks? Did you realize that any cupboard was okay to look through.Google’s and kids separate so they are lost. Throw out aluminum foil with one use.
