“I curse you, Barnabas! May your undeath haunt you through all eternity. I’d rather die a mortal than live year to year preying on innocent blood, watching those I love buried in hallowed ground. “

The delightful cover led me into the book. A new author for me and 1st book in series. The characters are developed and the descriptions take to you to an island off the Florida coast. After a nasty scandal, Liz Holt has return home to the family Interlantic hotel on an island near Melbourne, Florida. Her Aunt Abigail runs the hotel and allows several wacky guests to stay there. Liz’s father is a public defense lawyer who is beginning a relationship with homicide detective. The hotel has an expensive emporium associated with it. Aunt Abigail allows a despised and unpleasant wealthy woman, to moved into an apartment who is later killed in robbery to steal her jewelry. As the story plays out it twines and the plot changes hidding the end. Does Liz’s past catch up with her? I HIGHLY recommend this book. Some good sounding recipes are included.

Disclosure: Many thanks to Lyrical Underground for a review copy. The opinions expressed are my own.

Book #2

“Liz pushed against the revolving door and entered the hotel, glancing around the vintage-chic lobby, as her great-aunt called it. The word “shabby” wasn’t allowed when describing the once-grand resort that had opened in 1926. “

Trading the urban sprawl of Manhattan for the tranquility and exotic beauty of a Florida barrier island was the best decision author Liz Holt ever made. What could be more ideal for relaxing, regrouping, and getting a writer’s creative juices flowing than observing life at the unconventional hotel that has been in Liz’s family for generations? But it’s death that grips the island when a body sweeps in on the tide . . . “

  1. Happy Friday!😊

My first line comes from The Mending by Susan Lantz Simpson……..

She sensed someone had entered the room, even though she’d been dozing and hadn’t heard the whoosh of the door opening or the squeak of athletic shoes on the tile floor. Her eyes felt glued shut.

Have a great weekend and happy reading!😊📚

  2. “My husband did not mean to kill Annie Doyle, but the lying tramp deserved it”… first line from ‘Lying in wait’ by Liz Nugent. How could you not be intrigued?
