Woody Woodpecker!!!
It looks lijke our pileated woodpeckers here. I had one in my yard a year ago. So noisy!
The picture is not the best.It is smaller the pileated woodpecker and it back is black and white strip, head is a small patch of red. This one is a male.
Ahh. The pileated we had in our yard sounded like a hammer when it tapped the tree. It was a big bird. Is this one the same size?
No much smaller the pileated is much bigger than most woodpecker. All woodpeckers will make a large noise usually on house when people are sleeping. BTW, the Northern flicker is a woodpecker but they eat ants.
I could use a Northern Flicker at the Vicarage right now.
Ants place a trail of borax, corn meal ant will carried to the den and it kill out the ants in a short time.
Thank you!
