RAISAN OATMEAL COOKIES Not Gluten Free

This recipe has been inthe family before 1930s. I don’t remember what cookbook had the recipe. My siblings love the cookies and we often had them.

1  cup seedless raisins

1 cup of shortening (Mother used Crisco)

kind used can change the taste and texture

1 cup of sugar

2 eggs

1 2/3 cups oatmeal

1 1/2 cups of all purpose flour

1 teaspoon of baking soda

1/2 teaspoon of salt

1 teaspoon of cinnamon

1/4 cup of raisin water * 😉

*😉 place raisins in a sauce pan cover with water. Bring a boil. Let cool and drain. Saving  1/4 water for cookies.

Cream shorteng with sugar. Add beaten eggs. Combine the oatmeal and raisins, mix well. Add the mix shifted flour, with soda, salt and cinnamon. Beat throughly adding the raisin water as needed. Dropped onto grease pans and bake 12 minutes. Oven 350 -375 Fahrenheit. Enjoy

I have not tried to made this Gluten Free. I would make sure the oatmeal was GF and used a mixture of GF flour and 1/4 teaspoon of xanthan. It might take several batchs before finding the right kind of flour.
