The first book of the Undercover series. I enjoyed this author’s work and I went back and bought the earlier books. Lilah Drake has a secret business. She provides casseroles for hostesses who take credit for the dishes. She worked for her parents in real estate. Her home is a small cottage behind a mansion. She has a Labrador dog named Mike. She recovering from a disastrous love affair. Lilah provides the chili for her church bingo night. The speaker who welcomes the crowd takes one bite of the chili and falls over dead. Lilah smells the chili and knows that something has been added to it. She alerts the homicide detective but doesn’t tell him she cook the chili. Pet Brantley begs her to keep the secret. There are enough twists to the story that will keep you turning the pages. Delicious sounding recipes are included in the book. I highly recommend this book and series.
