THOWBACK THURSDAY – SPOTLIGHT ON LADY DARBY

THINK POSITIVE! HUGS!

I like historical books. This one has romance and mystery. It is set in Edinburgh, Scotland and the date 1830. Lord Coutmany is moving from his castle to the city so his wife can have the best medical with the birth of his fourth child. Kiera  a widow a d his sister-in-law accompanied the group. There are a total of 6 books in the series. I am looking forward to reading it.

Anna Lee Huber writes Verify Kent mysteries that take place just after World war two. My reviews are on my blog and Goodreads.

FIRST LINES

“OCTOBER 1830 It was the groan of death. Or so one would think. But after five interminable days of listening to my sister moan and carry on as we trundled across Scotland toward Edinburgh, her grumbles and whimpers had lost their ability to alarm me. I had seen death, even if I hadn’t exactly heard its guttural conclusion, and despite the dark circles around Alana’s eyes and her wan complexion, I could tell my sister was far from its door.”

GOODREADS SAYS

Scotland, 1830. Lady Kiera Darby is no stranger to intrigue—in fact, it seems to follow wherever she goes. After her foray into murder investigation, Kiera must journey to Edinburgh with her family so that her pregnant sister can be close to proper medical care. But the city is full of many things Kiera isn’t quite ready to face: the society ladies keen on judging her, her fellow investigator—and romantic entanglement—Sebastian Gage, and ultimately, another deadly mystery.

Thanks for the review. I’m seen her books on the shelves at the bookstore. I’ll check the library. This might just be the next series I read.

  2. Colline says:

I love historical books too – especially when they feature women.

Interesting question of who could investigate better. Nobility has access to places and people that lower classes would not, but lower class might have people talk around them as if they didn’t exist.
