Day In An Assisted Living Home – February 20

A Caregiver Can Hurt You.

We have been here for about 5 months. Plan to let you know about my days. Awoke at around 9:20am I started to get when a caregiver entered the room. She searched among my clothes looking for my black pants. They didn’t come back from the laundry. The weather outside was hazy but had no moisture. It is very winds outside.

Lunch was a ham along with a mixture of broccoli sprouts. My plate had no potato but others had mashed potatoes. Dessert was cherry pie and I managed to remove the crust and had the cherry the filling. Yesterday the towels from the shower last were left in pile near the door. Caregivers wheeled me down and back in the wheelchair. I am now resting on the bed after putting body lotion on my arms which slow returning to normal. I started a Dr Pepper for today. From growing up it is my favorite soft drink but it is now loaded with caffeine. The cherry taste was lost when the caffeine was added.

After an afternoon of back-scratching, I went down for dinner which offered French onion soup. My onion soup is clear broth and onion. The soup tonight had potatoes, carrots, and hamburgers. Dinner was Hawaiian meatballs (very tasty) and broccoli sprouts again. Lime jello with fruit added. Back in my room with an advancing storm. The caregiver will bring my night medication around 7:00pm. I will try to go sleep around 9:00pm.

That soup sounded good, but it wasn’t the traditional French Onion Soup. How odd that they served broccoli two times on the same day. At least it is a very healthy vegetable. I’m glad your skin condition is better, but it sounds like it still gives you trouble. I don’t drink soft drinks anymore and can’t have caffeine, but I agree that over time they have changed the formulas. I think it is usually to make the product cheaper–like using high fructose corn syrup instead of cane sugar.
